The Importance of You

I get it... you're busy... we're ALL busy.  Busy is just an excuse.  Have you ever really stopped and taken a good, long HONEST look at what you're "busy" doing?  How much of your "busy" is looking at Facebook, watching TV or playing Candy Crush?!?  We all have the same 24 hours in a day.  People who are a lot busier than YOU are getting their workouts in, making healthy meals and takin' care of business!  The difference is... they are making their healthy choices a priority. 

Time is a very finite resource and it is up to US to use it wisely.  Without setting some limits and making appointments to do things, it's very easy to get pulled in a dozen different directions throughout the course of the day.  And at the TIME that things are happening, everything may seem like it is an emergency that needs to be dealt with RIGHT THAT SECOND.  I am willing to bet that it is NOT and it doesn't NEED to be.   But, if that IS how your days go... then it is even MORE important for you to make the time to make the choices that will get you closer to your goals.

Think about how quickly and easily you block out an hour of your day to do something for someone ELSE... How quickly you accept a meeting on your calendar when the email comes in.  Now think about how hard it is for you to give yourSELF an hour. How you feel guilty for blocking out time during the day to take care of YOU.  Now... get over it! Lots of people want lots of things from you, it is important for you to know that YOU need things from you too!  And that it's OK to give back to yourself, to take the time to exercise, to stay strong and healthy and fit.  It's OK to turn off the TV and prepare a home-cooked meal (and while you're at it, make enough for some leftovers for your lunch the next day!)  It's OK to take care of yourself... in fact, it's MORE than OK, it's imperative.  How do you expect to take care of others if you can't take care of yourself?  How much can you continue to give to others if you don't give back to YOU?
